Beach season is just around the corner and with the weather in the high 70s today in the Charleston, folks are already pulling out the shorts and tank tops but along with this warm weather comes some things to think about.
1. Apply Sunscreen Daily
Be sure that you’re applying sunscreen before you head out the door every day and make sure that they contain physical blockers like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. These minerals are used in physical blocks and sit on top of your skin and reflect the rays of the sun, shielding what’s underneath. I always like to suggest our Germain Rx Anti-Aging SPF 45 or our Germain Rx Oil Free Sunscreen.
Look for chemical blockers that provide complete protection from both UVA and UVB rays, and apply at least 30 minutes before heading outdoors, so the chemicals have enough time to soak into the skin and protect your skin. And ladies, suggest it to your boyfriends, husbands and brothers…we see a few men that have spent years not wearing sunscreen and it definitely takes a toll on their skin just like yours.
2. Cover Up
Thank goodness large sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats are so fashionable because they’re wonderful for your skin too! Of course, the best way to guard your skin is to shield it from the sun with things like hats, sunglasses and even sun protective clothing.
3. Freeze It
If you are going to be on the beach and you’re worried about your muffin top, love handles or back fat hanging over your bathing suit, then freeze your fat permanently with CoolSculpting by Zeltiq. Zeltiq works by delivering targeted cold therapy to treatment areas and crystallizing the fat cells which die off and are flushed out of the body by natural processes. The procedure is simple and requires no needles, pain, or downtime for the patient. On average, each Zeltiq
Zeltiq is not for patients who are looking to lose a large amount of fat, rather it’s only for small fat deposits. Treatment is painless and patients enjoy the ability to get back to normal activity right away.
procedure results in a 20% reduction of fat in the treated area. Results are seen as soon as 3 weeks after treatment, with the most dramatic results occurring over a period of two to four months in most patients.
Currently, we are the only dermatology office in South Carolina to offer it. The FDA approved it in 2010 and it’s been growing in popularity ever since. It’s been featured on ABC’s Good Morning America, Dr. Oz, Rachael Ray, The Doctors, Nightline and many other news programs. We have already treated many patients in the Lowcountry and the results have been amazing. But since it takes 2-3 months to see complete results this is the perfect time to get the procedure done, so when it is time to pull out that polka dot bikini, you won’t feel embarrassed or scared to flaunt what you’ve got. We have free consultations for Zeltiq by calling our office at 843-881-4440.

We hope that no matter how you enjoy the outdoors in the Lowcountry – you do it safely!
