FRAXEL AT GERMAIN DERMATOLOGY

Laser treatmentGermain Dermatology| Pawleys Island, SC

You constantly hear how great lasers can be for a variety of skin issues, but what laser do you choose? With so much new technology, multiple treatments and an overflow of information it’s hard to understand what laser to use and what they do. Today we are breaking down the Fraxel Laser Treatment. Fraxel® (a fractional laser) is a laser beam divided into thousands of microscopic treatment zones that target a fraction of the skin at a time. These beams rejuvenate sub-surface skin cells and prompts collagen production via light energy treating wrinkles, sun spots, melasma, actinic keratoses, large pores, and scars from acne or surgery. The treatment takes about 30 minutes, and although a skin resurfacing tool, is noninvasive and gentle. No skin is peeled or abraded away making healing minimal.

Patients may notice some redness, swelling, and flaking in the days after their Fraxel® session, but side effects are minor and give way to long-lasting results. Improvements should be visible within a week, and will continue beyond that.

Four to six treatments scheduled about a month apart may be necessary to generate a patient’s complete desired results.
