Chemical Peel

Every person has different skin, and just like choosing the right makeup shade to match you perfectly, we cater your treatments to your own unique skin needs. At Germain Dermatology, we offer a full variety of chemical peel treatments for Charleston-area patients seeking a personalized, custom skincare treatment plan.

Revitalizing the face by removing the outermost layer of skin, a chemical peel helps remove the telltale signs of aging and sun damage. It exposes deeper laters, which are smoother and fresher, untouched by elements that cause the skin to look older. This treatment stimulates new skin growth, reducing fine lines and softening the overall complexion.

SKIN CARE AND BEAUTY

Glycolic Peel

The glycolic acid application reveals a brighter and smoother complexion. A Glycolic Peel delivers amazing anti-aging benefits to reveal luminous skin. It complements anti-aging or acne regimens, but we do not recommend it for patients with rosacea. You can enhance another procedure or experience this chemical peel by itself with amazing results.

MicroPeel

A mild chemical peel using salicylic acid, this peel helps soften and clear the skin. It improves the texture and tone and is ideal for acne-prone, photo-damaged, or oily skin. It can perfectly complement any acne treatment. Three treatments are recommended to achieve the best results, with physical exfoliation expected 2-5 days after treatment.

MG Active Peel

Perfect your skin with the most advanced chemical peel, which combines Lactic, Resorcinol, Salicylic, Glycolic, Pyruvic, Mandelic, and Retinoic acids. Two treatments in 10 weeks promote healthy skin, improving the appearance of dull and uneven skin tone and texture, dark spots, fine lines, and sun damage. Patients may expect four to six days of exfoliation.

Most patients who choose a chemical peel can expect redder skin, similar to a sunburn, for at least three days following treatments

Dermaplaning to Complement a Chemical Peel

Dermaplaning is an incredible alternative to plucking or waxing with the same results you would receive from shaving without hair growing back thicker and darker. It can slough off excess skin and unwanted hair to improve makeup application on baby-soft and hairless skin. You can request dermaplaning as a stand-alone option or combine it with your chemical peel treatment.

Chemical peels may enhance the results of other cosmetic treatments, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic or a dermal filler that will add volume. These combinations can address deeper folds or creases, and fillers can plump thin lips or gently lift sagging soft tissue. Multiple, carefully chosen treatments can be effective and powerful in treating aging skin.

Patients may also be interested in microdermabrasion, another way to remove the outermost layer of skin to reveal fresh and beautiful skin underneath. Dr. Marguerite Germain and her staff will suggest the treatment for each patient based on a personalized consultation.

CHEMICAL PEEL FAQ'S

Used to refresh and revitalize the skin by removing the top layer, which shows signs of aging and sun damage, a chemical peel is a staple cosmetic treatment. The treatment stimulates new skin growth and reveals smoother skin, further reducing fine lines and smoothing your complexion.

Any skin tone or skin type can benefit from a chemical peel. Some peels are stronger than others to address differing concerns, such as acne versus sensitive skin. By

We typically recommend a treatment plan and peel cycle based on the strength of the peel and your skin concerns. Together, we will decide during your personalized consultation at Germain Dermatology.

Adding dermaplaning to any facial treatment can be a beneficial and effective treatment on its own. Dermaplaning can effectively remove dead skin and unwanted hair. Requesting dermaplaning before other face treatments can lead to better absorption of skincare products and peels.

Depending on peel strength, you will experience visible exfoliation and redness anywhere from two to six days following your peel.
